1670 English Corset
Unfortunately this has NEVER fit correctly, as I lost a ton of weight during the construction, and it was patterned to my size when I started making it. I still have it but I’ve probably only worn it once, because it annoys me that it doesn’t fit the way it should in period.
The photos of the first entari are currently mia on the original pages. I’m working on it.
My first PERIOD Middle Eastern outfit, and years later I still love this piece. The gomlek needs to be replaced (never make undergarments from cotton) but the entari serves me well.
Luc wanted something to show off his legs after a period of weight loss, and we were on the way to a hot war, so I suggested Roman. The slave’s tunic was typically shorter ( to a somewhat obscene degree) but we opted for a longer cut.
In hindsight, I think I’d have better luck with this piece if I’d stitched the shoulder seam in the center of the garment and just had him WEAR it off-center. I don’t know if that would be more period but I think it would have relieved the need for pleats and might have been more wearable.
