“Hey baby. I’ve missed you.”
“Honey… are you talking to your sewing machine?”
My good sewing machine has been in the shop for six months for “a really quick repair: this will only take a few days!”
Now it’s back, and it’s quietly whirring along over seams instead of chugga-chugga-chewing them. And, by luck, it has a heavy-fabrics needle in it, so I don’t even have to go buy new needles after the other ones broke. So much win!
I’ve added the extra panels into the undersides of the sleeve uppers and adjusted the neckline of the bodice to make my boobs look a bit less uneven (for some reason there was a really unflattering optical illusion happening). Having tried on the dress sans sleeves again, I’m realizing it would be really nice to have this by itself for casual semi-period wear like at war, where I might want to throw the sleeves on for dancing or whatever, but leave them off for hanging out in the sun. So I’m thinking now I’m going to finish the sleeves as separate items and have them tie or pin on.
So that’s what I’m doing tonight.
